[ You haven't seen the last of the memories. Here's another one. By know, people are probably familiar enough with those from the Black Order to know that...most of the Exorcists have had one unhappy thing after another happening to them.

Even Lenalee. ]

[ The memory opens up with a girl, running. Or rather, a girl attempting to run and instead stumbling quite badly. There are bandages everywhere on her, especially around her legs. She almost trips over own feet, barely catching herself against the closest wall. A hand hurried brushes a tear-stained face. It's dark and the windows are few; small wonder she keeps on stumbling. ]

Kanda? [ A sob as she turns a corner. ] I wish you weren't on a mission-- [ Stairs. Her knuckles whiten on the banister as she pulls herself up on them.

She doesn't even know where she can go now. All there is left is to run. To try yet again. Two years and she still hates this place. She hates most of the people. She hates God. She hates Innocence.

At the top of the stairs, her legs finally give out and she falls forward, clipping her chin on marbled floor and scratching her lip in the process. She ends up dragging herself into a corner and burying her face in her hands...

Because she knows what follows. It's always the same thing.

Footsteps. Many footsteps. Always the same, unhurried rhythm because they will always find her, no matter what she does. ]

Did you think you could hide, Lenalee?

[ If only the floor could swallow her up now, and take her and her misery. ]

It was foolish to try. [ Clink, clink. Boot heels click against the ground. ] Always so foolish. Why don't you ever learn, after all this time. [ The dark figures surround her; she refuses to look up. ]

You must remember, Lenalee.

The Order did not choose you.

God did.

[ Hands grab her, and finally she screams-- ]

[ And then there's hands pounding on a glass surface. Oh, a scene change. It's brighter and easier to see, at least. She is in some sort of ruins, where the sky was blue and lighting is clear.

Anyone well-acquainted with Lavi would recognise him. But he is holding another person by the collar of their shirt, in a stance that's uncharacteristic of him. ]

Stop it--! [ That is definitely Lenalee's voice as she shouts at Lavi. But he doesn't seem to hear; rather, he punches the other in the gut.

And in the background, a small girl laughs at it all... ]

Lavi!!!!

[ It's a short scene that once again abruptly cuts.

What is this, more fighting? There is smoke and debris everywhere, and a jumble of voices. Colours are a blur as well, for Lenalee's down, blood caking the side of her head. ]

Hey, look at me. [ A tinny voice wines. The figure with the pentacle and wings roughly grinds her head against the metalwork of the walkway.

She ignores it, hand stretching out towards a glowing cube. So close, and yet so far. ]

Innocence...

[ It was the source of her power, what she has lost and is trying to regain. If only...

if only she weren't weak. ]

To God, whom I hate so much...

I've never wanted this more than now.

[ And then everything goes black. ]

[ Lenalee hastily switches to text. ]

I was hoping no one saw that, but if you did, I'm sorry you had to see that [ They're not exactly crowning moments of her life. ] I'll be fine tomorrow, I promise. [ She hopes. Reliving this brings back some of the old emotions she felt, and she needs time to put them back into place. ]
