➈th Letter Home ✉ [Video, backdated to this morning]
[The video begins with a bang - quite literally. His handgun extended, Kiriko has calmly shot a deer that had been fleeing deep in the woods. The small animal crumples to its knees, and Kiriko nears it and shoots it again in the head. Storing his gun, the young man kneels down next to the corpse with a half smile.]
Sorry, little guy. Wish things were better for all of us.
[He turns to the PDA and his smile becomes more cheerful. After Yuri's departure, he's felt a little lonely, and wanted to try and solve that.]
Good morning, everyone. I'll be back in a bit, why don't we share a meal together? I know it's hot as hell, but we shoul-
[Kiriko's expression suddenly hardens as a fog seems to cloud the screen. He hadn't noticed it approaching. He stands, and his eyes search the area... What's that smell? Is that...]
..Wait.
[There is a roar as a burning tree crashes down in the distance, and startled, Kiriko jumps. As if watching the ranks of an enemy army draw closer, the boy becomes deathly serious. He covers his mouth with a part of his shirt, an orange glow is reflected in his suddenly cold eyes. He stares ahead the same way a soldier watches death.]
Fire...
[Abandoning his kill, the video clicks off as he begins running in the opposite direction.]

Kiriko-san! Can you make it back?
Re: audio
[In a panic he's gone and gotten a little lost, and while he's heading in the right direction, fear is apparent in his voice. It becomes no better when he hears the background of Yukio's message. Water? Was he already trying to put it out?! He lies somewhat, worried for his friend.]
I'm fine, I'm fine! Where are you?! Get out of here!
Re: audio
Re: audio
[His voice becomes breathy as he runs like hell.]
You'd better not be lying to me, damn it..!
Re: audio
[And so he shall... though the first priority is making sure Kiriko actually does manage to get himself out of the woods.]
Re: audio
[It's a few minutes of radio silence. When the PDA crackles back on, the only sounds in the background are Kiriko's panicked gasps.]
Fuck! Fuck! I thought I was going to fucking die!
[That probably means he's out. Only when he's out of danger will he give himself permission to freak out.]
Y-Yukio? Where...
Re: audio
It's alright, Kiriko-san. I'm on the edge of the woods.
[Yukio is about half a mile West, standing at the edge of the woods between two summoning circles on the ground. The sound of water is audible in the woods beyond. The fire is even further off, barely even visible from this distance, but Mister Exorcist has his eyes trained on it anyway.]
Re: audio
The e-edge...?
[He coughs, still breathing into his shirt, and begins to drag himself along the edge of the forest from where he emerged. As Yukio comes into view, Kiriko's voice becomes smaller from his arms dropping to his sides in surprise.]
What is that..?!
[What are those things on the ground? What has he done? He calls out to him, and despite his exhaustion, runs up to meet him.]
Yukio!
Re: audio
Are you alright, Kiriko-san? You need to stop and catch your breath!
Re: audio
Fine! You're bleeding!
Re: audio
Kiriko-san, calm down. I've already taken care of it. Take deep breaths for me.
Re: audio
But he does as he's asked. It takes him a few moments before his breathing is back to normal. And as soon as it is:]
What... Did you do...?
Re: audio
I summoned water nymphs to try and contain the fire.
[Yes, Yukio, because that's a reasonable explanation to give a normal person.]
Re: audio
I... What...?
...What?
[He falls to his knees in confusion. He's fine, he just feels like he needs to sit down after that.]
Re: audio
Some exorcists have the ability to summon demons to aid them. They're no danger while I have control of them.
Re: audio
After a moment of shocked silence, he finally answers.]
...You didn't have to do that.
no subject
It was the best way I knew to help.
no subject
..Thanks.
[And he means that from the bottom of his heart. Trying to make light of the situation, Kiriko humourlessly tries to joke.]
Shit, think I could borrow those for the war? ...Heh.
no subject
Let's worry about the fire first.
no subject
no subject
[He grits his teeth. Which was was out, again? He thought he marked a trail with his knife somewhere around here.]
...Don't worry about me! Please, tell the others! It'll spread...!
no subject
no subject
Y-Yeah! I'm... kind of working on it...!
[Wait, that's right. What if someone's trapped here?]
Is everyone accounted for?!
no subject
no subject
[He feels a little gush of thankfulness to Rin, who he has never really gotten along with, for offering to come and get him.]
You... You're like your brother, after all. Heh.
no subject
[He raises an eyebrow.] What's that supposed to mean?
no subject
Yeah... [Siiiigh of relief.] Yes.
[He clears his throat.] Well, hasn't anybody ever told you that before?
no subject
[He crosses his arms and then loosens one of his hands to hold his chin thoughtfully.]
Not really.
Video--->Action?
On my way Doc.
[It really wouldn't take her long to fly there, or to home in on his emotional-state, given he's the 'human' one in panic, mebbe. She's been trying to survey, via aerial view, the extent of the spread and damage.]
Re: Video--->Action?
[He has no idea what she's going to do, but with her powers he has a feeling it involves endangering herself.]
Action
[Because oh, hey, she's a superheroine, remember? Shouldn't take her long, before she can find him. And yes, she's flying. And raising a hand to gesture, chanting a mantra, and then erecting a dark-energy field between them and the flames for the moment.]
Re: Action
[When the dark energy field comes up, he's so startled he trips and falls on his face.]
A-Ah...!
Re: Action
Just give me your hand, Doc...
[And someone sounds way too calm--it's how she always sounds though.]
Re: Action
He reaches for her hand and grabs it with a tentative nod.]
D'oh--meant to say "she'll worry about injury later" >.<
It'll be alright, Doc. I can get us back to the apartments.
x3 No problem!
He sinks onto the energy disk, still touching Raven's hand, and looks down quietly.]
...Alright.
[He trusts her.]
^^ *hug*
Are you hurt at all, aside from the shock of the flames?
no subject
...Raven. Thanks.
no subject
You don't have to thank me, Doc...it's part of what I do.
[And she does mean that. She would rather help people, truly.]
no subject
[LOOK, HE CARES.]
no subject
I... Yeah...
[As he's running, he can't help but ask.] Do you think it was her?
no subject
[A brief pause as he considers the weather he's seen during his stay here.]
With weather this extreme, it makes you grateful you're inland. [No hurricanes, but there's always a threat for a possible tornado, some day.]
no subject
Ugh... Fucking weather! [Almost out...] The winter, I could stand, but these hot summers...!
no subject
I imagine the region this area is in has had this climate for decades, if not centuries.
