[well look who's gone and decided to play in the snow? that's right, this guy. well at this point he's mostly just sitting in the snow and piling it up in one spot. it's supposed to be a snowman but it's kind of...okay it's bad but it's his first attempt, alright?

Dextera hums a little. he's never been in a position where the elements didn't hurt him so this was a welcome change even if it was cold.

wrapping his coat a little tighter around him, Dextera turns his attention to the PDA and types something out.]

This is fun. I don't think I've done this before but it's nice.

[....oh, right while he's at it!]

Thank you for the things. They're nice too.

[~~even if it took him awhile to open them up because him and boxes don't get along back home...~~

Dextera resumes trying to build his fail snowman but eventually types something else out later.]

Libitina? Do you want to play in the snow with me?

[Taking it upon herself to be a bit more active as one of the residential healers, Raven is hiking out in to the snow--bundled up under a long black slightly old coat that covers her pretty well, and her cloak. Heading out to where Dextera is, and watching for a bit. Checking to see how bundled up he is, and how close he might or mightn't be to needing to come in or risk damage from the cold.]

[he looks okay. Elizabeth repaired his coat before she left so while it looks a little thin for the weather Dextera seems fine with the cold.

he jumps a little when he hears Raven's voice but otherwise looks rather pleased with himself and nods. yup, he's enjoying it! it's never been this cold back home so it was a new thing to experience.]

[She'll smile in turn then, even if it's a small one.]

I know Alma made a snowman the other day, so we might be able to persuade him to come out here and help build another one. We could also try for a snow fort, if you wanted.

I do want to check your hands quickly, to make sure you're not in danger of frostbite. If you stay out too long, you can do yourself serious damage.

[Not forgetting that she had to explain somethings to him, as well...]

[he blinks once before holding his hands up for Raven to look at. they're wrapped up and a little cold but otherwise seemed alright. he hadn't been out here all that long.

he's not quite sure what frostbite was but he did know what 'serious damage meant. how do they look?]

[She moves closer to look, then takes one between her own. It is cold...so she then moves to them to be wrapped in his coat a bit, showing him how.]

They seem fine for now, if cold. Getting gloves or mittens would be helpful, but you're not alone in needing those. [Witness Raven's own gloveless-hands.]

If they start to get red, or feel tingly, come inside and find me or Yukio immediately ok?

[there's a moment when he thinks something over before pulling out the PDA.]

I will. Can I ask what gloves and mittens are?

[there really wasn't much use for them since back home it was always hot. that, and he just plain didn't know.]

They're garments that cover your hands, to keep them warm. Form-fitting enough that you can still move, but not so tight they don't keep the cold out. Mittens envelope your fingers, and leave your thumb with a separate casing, while gloves have all your fingers in separate casing.

[at that he looks down at his hands, to the white wrappings covering them. they didn't keep his hands all that warm but...]

These wouldn't work?

[he taps one hand with another.]

[She blinks, and then offers a very faint smile. Only at the corner of her mouth, really.]

No, they wouldn't. The idea behind gloves and mittens is to provide insulation against the cold. So they don't get damaged from the prolonged exposure. They might be low on the list, but we could see if someone could get you some from Credinta...

It's okay if it's low. I think I'm okay with just these.

[honestly, losing fingers to frostbite wasn't as bad as the other way he's lost body parts.]

[Omigosh, someone else who actually wants to play in the snow? Dextera, you're like a dream come true.]

Can I come play with you?

[Let Alma teach you the ways of snowman-building.]

[he smiles a little bit.]

You can. It's fun.

[teach him how to make a less fail snowman Alma :D]

[Eeeeeeee-] I'll be right down!

[No more than two minutes passes before Alma's speeding down the stairs and out the front door of the apartment building. He's all bundled up in his overly large coat, and his little black golem is bobbing in the air behind him. He trots right up to Dextera, studying the snow pile next to him for a moment.]

... Are you making a snowman?

[wow, that was fast. Dextera smiles again before nodding and fishing in his coat's pocket for the PDA.]

Trying to. Someone told me about them once. Wanted to try.

[though he's really not getting anywhere.]

[Alma bends over at the waist to read the message, beaming at Dextera afterward.]

You're doing okay so far. Can I show you how I make them?

I'd like that.

[it'd probably be a little less fail if someone who knew how to make it show him.]

[Ok, so...Raven is still there. Watching over them, playing "Adult supervision". There's little enough to enjoy here often enough, so it's kind of nice to be around those who have so much energy. Besides, this way she can also make sure they come in or take breaks as needed.]

[Alma's focus is mostly on Dextera and their snowman shenanigans, but he does wave at Raven when he notices her lingering nearby.]

Toy wants to play with Libitina?

I do. Is that okay?

[he's not sure if ghosts like the snow or not.]

Uh huh... Is okay. [You even get a little smile out of her, Dextera!]

[he smiles a little bit too because yay, it's nice when friends come out to play! ~~even if they're creepy ghost girls.~~]

I'm near the church. Is that an okay place?

[Friends are the best things besides her ball! /o/]

Uh huh, is okay. Libitina coming.

Okay. I'll be here.

[and indeed he will be, working on his fail of a snowman. it's not to bad for his fifth or so try, if a little lopsided. feel free to join him Libitina!]

[And she'll be there just like that, though a distance away and obviously timid about walking up to Dextera, holding onto her ball almost protectively.]

[if it means anything to Libitina Dextera isn't armed for once, having left his weapons in the church because he thought the weather would damage them.

it takes him a minute before he notices Libitina has arrived. smiling slightly, the mute tries waving her over. it's okay to come over, he's used to talking to ghosts and dead things.]

[She does walk over when waved to, stopping close t o the snowman and sets her ball down next to her. It - and her - practically blend in with the snow around them.]

We try to build snowman?

[he notices that and makes a note to try and not step on her ball.

tilting the device so she could hopefully see it, Dextera nods.]

Try to. I don't think I'm good at it yet.

[given that they've come out either lopsided or simply didn't stay together....yeah, kind of bad. but he likes to think he's improving.]

Never done it before. [She's a little hesitant and timid still, and though her feet leave no footprints behind, she's still able to reach down with her bare hands and scoop up a handful of snow. She'll watch Dextera's attempts and mimic them.]

[he pauses for a minute to stick the device back into his coat's pocket before gathering up some snow himself and rolling it into a ball.

it's small but he figured out what to do from here. rolling it against the ground the ball becomes a little bigger and he smiles and looks back at Libitina. do you understand this so far?]

[She's stopping to watch Dextera again, and then kneels down in the snow to start rolling her mish-mash of a snowball.]
