6th Death

[the feed flicks on by accident, showing Dextera in his room. it's a little early but it seems like he's trying to sleep and failing horribly. the mute wanted to sleep - he hadn't in a long time - but the dreams...he didn't like them.

he sighed and gets up. seeings that the device was already on, he takes it and types out a question.]

Is there a way to sleep without dreaming?

At the most basic, yes...but there can easily be more to it.

Anyways, are you ready to try and sleep?

[Have another small smile.]

It's alright. And it's simple, really. It's easier, if you're familiar with any kind of mental speech, telepathy or the like. Otherwise I can manage, and your part is still really simple.

Mostly, you just lie down. You get ready for bed, the way you always would. Whatever you'd do to sleep. I reach out, gently, with a mental 'hand' as it were, and slide in--like I said--between your unconscious and subconscious, and the rest of your mind. Blocking your dreams, from your remembering them.

If I was looking, yes...but I try to not do so unless asked. I'll be in a trance, that'll allow me some rest while blocking your dreams, but it's not the same as true sleep, for me. That's why I can't do this all the time, as I will need real and thorough sleep after a point.

[Have another small smile, as she understood.]

I try hard to respect other people's privacy. I certainly prefer my own being respected.

[Raven shrugs, ready to follow his lead. Besides, not that he knows this--but she has nightmares of her own.]

Well, whatever you do to get ready for bed and sleep. Just, get comfortable, really.

[Well, for him, all the stuff is easy now. Raven'll come closer, shifting to levitate and sit in her meditation pose near his bed, to the side. It's easier to be close for this.]

Well, now, you close your eyes and relax. When you feel the mental 'hand'--that's me--envision yourself grasping it, and I'll do the rest.

[Closing her own eyes, she quietly intones her mantra under her breath; breathing deeply and slipping into an almost trance as she readies herself. Stretching her Empathy and reaching out with that mental hand she mentioned. There might be a faint feeling accompanying the hand of dark feathery wings, sliding gently against his mind and waiting for his permission to enter.]

[Raven kept herself deliberately calm and relaxed, aware when he took her mental-hand. She kept her touch light, and as she promised--she didn't look. It wasn't unlike when she pain-blocked, but Dextera had never experienced that with her yet. All it really meant was that she slid herself--the faint feeling of dark wings--and her influence between his unconscious and subconscious, as she'd promised. Blocking his mind from his dreams, as he slipped more into sleep.

Remaining in her trance beside him, levitating and monitoring his vital signs of his body, and simply keeping her presence between him and his nightmares, while he slept. Simple, and when he'd gotten some rest and she was rested, she'd start teaching him other ways.]
