[the feed flicks on by accident, showing Dextera in his room. it's a little early but it seems like he's trying to sleep and failing horribly. the mute wanted to sleep - he hadn't in a long time - but the dreams...he didn't like them.

he sighed and gets up. seeings that the device was already on, he takes it and types out a question.]

Is there a way to sleep without dreaming?

I have a way to help you sleep, this time, without dreaming. It's something I can do, and I've not seen others who can. But it'll work. Otherwise you'd need to practice, and learn how to sleep without dreaming.

I won't do it all the time, until you learn--but I will help you learn, and I can do it sometimes to help you until you learn. No, it won't hurt me so long as it's every now and then.

Yes. [bad ones. he knew he was mostly safe here and it was fine to sleep but the mute couldn't shake them. his own head was sometimes just as bad as the things back home.]

Yes. [he really didn't like what his head came up with, half the time.]

Even if you've had the best day of your life, you'd end up with a nightmare.

A way to force it? I've heard that there are ways, but I haven't tried. [ She has tried to dream good dreams instead of bad dreams, however. ]

When I try to sleep they happen. [which sort of implies Dextera didn't sleep often.] I know it's good to sleep but I don't think I like them.

I try to think of happy things before I fall asleep. It usually helps.

What kind of happy things? [he didn't know what made someone happy.]

Things that don't make you unhappy. Friends, family. Something that makes you smile and feel as if there's little to worry about.
