1 Blue Flame - Okumura Rin [Video]

[A teenage Japanese boy with messy black hair is sitting outside under the overhang of what's left of a ruined old building. He's wearing a black and white school uniform of some kind. There is a black and white cat with little horns and two tails sitting next to him peering at the screen. The boy scratches his head.]

Uhhh...So any of you guys know what's going on? I wasn't out here last night. That ghost must be up to stuff again.

[He grumbles the last bit to himself and then switches off the communicator.]

[He tries to yank his arm back, keeping his eyes on the apartment building.]

Let go of me, Nii-san.

No! Talk to me!

[He keeps a firm grip on his brother. Not enough to do any harm, but Yukio isn't getting away.]

[Yukio's silent for several long moments, face turned away from Rin. He's spent the last month practically torn to pieces over Rin's disappearance. He'd had plans as to what to say to his elder brother should he reappear, but now that Rin's actually in front of him... lecturing him and trying to feed him as if the last month never even happened...

It's quite sudden when he does turn, one clenched fist curled back and then thrown wildly toward his sibling. There are tears in his eyes.]

[The punch catches Rin square in the center of his face. He doesn't have a chance to do anything more than squeeze his eyes shut before he gets hit. Releasing Yukio's arm his hands go to his face as he stumbles backwards.]

Ow! Damn it! Yukio!

[His hands clench into fists which his lowers to his sides. Looks like that punch was hard enough to leave a bloody nose which Rin is completely ignoring.]

What's your...? [He trails off noticing the tears, temper diffused.]

[Yukio ducks his head, arms held stiff at his sides and shaggy hair falling over his eyes. His breathing comes in quick pulls and his shoulders are tight.]

... You were gone.

I'm sorry.

[It's all he can really say. He can't even explain himself since he doesn't know exactly what happened. Rin stays rooted where he is.]

It wasn't my call.

[Yukio stands silently for a long while, harsh breathing and a slight tremor in his shoulders the only movement on his part.

Eventually he starts to look up, stops, and then quickly turns on his heel and heads for the building again.]

[Oh no you don't Yukio. Rin runs after him and grabs his arm again before he can reach the door.]

I said I'm sorry! You know I wouldn't leave ya if I had a choice!

[Yukio stops, this time without a fight.

He doesn't know what to do. It hurt so much when Rin was taken (more than he ever thought it would), but having him back so suddenly has dropped Yukio into a sort of limbo. All he can think is that Libitina will take his brother away again, and he's subconsciously trying to distance himself.]

... I know.

[Rin moves around to stand in front of his brother, only shifting his grip on the arm instead of letting go so that he can move without twisting it.]

Then don't run away from me. I'm here now so I'm gonna look out for ya whether you like it or not.

[Yukio keeps his eyes on the ground, eyebrows knit together. He's managed to keep tears from falling, at least.]

You don't get it.

What don't I get?! If I don't get it tell me!

... There are no guarantees here. She can take any of us whenever she wants.

So what? We're here right now and that's what counts! We can't just lay around and wait for her to get bored of us! Don't be stupid!

I'm being realistic!

So you're gonna ignore me like an idiot?! That's not gettin' anything done about the problem!

[Yukio goes silent again, realizing just what he's been subconsciously suggesting. As if he could really ignore Rin.

He scrubs his free hand over his face, very tired.]

No...

Then stop actin' like a dumb ass and let me cook for you.

[He lets go of Yukio finally.]

[Yukio finally nods. Things still don't feel... right, but Rin isn't wrong. He can't avoid his own brother because of what may or may not happen, no matter how terrifying the worst possible outcome seemed to him right now.]

... I'm sorry for hitting you. Is your nose alright?

It's fine. [Rubbing some of the blood away with the back of his hand.] It's not even bleeding anymore.

[Rin reaches over with his clean hand and messes up Yukio's hair.]

You're startin' to look more like a punk than me and now you've done jail time to go with it. I gotta stick around this time to keep ya out of trouble.

[Yukio ducks a bit under Rin's hand, frowning in that classic way he always has.]

I just need a haircut, that's all.
